![]() While using Ruin will still consume the Ruin stacks on enemies, having one Lysate Cell lets you continue applying Ruin stacks while your first use of the skill is recharging, increasing your burst damage potential. ![]() Also Captain gains zero benefit from this item, as his supply drops are still limited to two per stage.Īn important note is Heretic's special skill, Ruin, which you can also get as any character by grabbing the Essence of Heresy. In addition, this item does not increase the skill cooldowns further upon stacking, it only provides additional charges of the ability. Keep in mind that while this item does give Engineer a third sentry, it will not give him a fourth or more when stacked. There are also some items, like the Executive Card or Crowdfunder, which don't benefit from Gesture of the Drowned or Fuel Cells whatsoever, making the Lysate Cell a more obvious choice. If you're running Gesture of the Drowned, the loss of Fuel Cells will be even less significant. Since it corrupts Fuel Cells, it's up to your build and how much it relies on the usage of Equipment items. Why? While for some characters this is completely useless (like on Captain) or absolutely vital (Engineer), for others this is by preference. Any character who benefits from having their primary fire replaced by the Visions of Heresy (Engineer using mobile sentries in particular) can frequently kill enemies instantly and consistently. For some reason, this attack seems to activate the instant kill effect of this item at an excessive rate. Of special note is Heretic or the Heretic's primary fire (gained through the Visions of Heresy). Since Lost Seer's Lenses aren't hard to come by, it's feasible to get a nice stockpile of items before deciding to swap over to it towards the end of a run. Using this, you can still maintain decent boss damage on characters who can fire extremely quickly, like MUL-T. Getting a 57 Leaf Clover also will boost your crit chance in addition to letting the Lost Seer's Lenses activate more often. ![]() In the case of Railgunner, the use of this void item is by preference.įor other characters, critical hits aren't impossible without the Lens-Marker's Glasses regardless, as all items which work off of critical hits (except the Laser Scope) boost crit chance, on top of characters already having innate critical chance. In addition, Crowbars work more in Railgunner's favor than just a flat 10% damage bonus she receives from the Lens-Maker's Glasses, and as late game becomes more hectic, Railgunner will rely on her unscoped primary fire more often which would strictly benefit from the Lost Seer's Lenses since it can't critical hit at all. Railgunner is an interesting example, as she relies on crit boosting items to increase her critical hit damage instead, although her attack power is already so excessive that you may not need the boosted damage to begin with. For instance, while they can randomly crit, the attack speed boost from Predatory Instincts has little benefit to Acrid, who is limited by cooldowns, or Bandit, who already can fire as fast as the trigger is pulled and has assured critical hits from behind anyway. Why? While the loss of the critical hit chance from the Lens-Maker's Glasses seems like a tough choice, some characters don't really benefit from the items which get boosted by critical hits. If received early, your only hope is to grab an Egocentrism and pray that it eats a Benthic Bloom. The Benthic Bloom can even create more Benthic Blooms, causing a positive feedback loop and devouring your items faster. At the very least, it doesn't consume yellow items, so if you somehow get a handful of Iridescent Pearls, you won't be as affected by this item as you normally would.Īt face value, the Benthic Bloom seems useful, but in practice it can quite easily kill a run unless obtained at the very end of the game. For example, if you have 100 Soldier's Syringes, the Benthic Bloom will randomly transform it into 100 Happiest Masks rather than take three Soldier's Syringes and turn it into three unique Reds. If you frequently visit Newt's Shop, this counts as a level transition, meaning you lose even more items to the Benthic Bloom.Īlso keep in mind that Benthic Bloom doesn't upgrade three individual items at a time, it upgrades entire stacks of a single item at a time. In addition, there's no assurance the reds the Benthic Bloom will upgrade items to will be of any use to you. There are currently no red items which increase movement speed, attack speed, or crit chance. ![]() While it's amusing for the gimmick, you will lose out on the valuable abilities granted by white and green items quickly. Why? 57 Leaf Clover is one of the best items in the game, and Benthic Bloom conversely may be one of the worst.
