If your child prefers to explore things on their own they are a solitary learner. For example: if your child easily remembers things that are in song form they are an auditory learner. Over time you will start to notice which of the styles your child will thrive with. Try seeing how much they remember from whatever you showed them depending on what learning style you used. They may love making up songs, but they may retain more when they read something. Keep in mind too that what your child prefers may not be the best way they learn. It will take a week or more of cycling through the different learning styles to see which your child prefers. Maybe one day you can make songs out of things and the next you can try self-guided learning. When you are working with your child, try mixing up the different styles. Solitary learners prefer to learn things in a self-study manner by themselves. Having other people to talk through new information is very helpful for social learners. Socialīeing a social learner means that the person learns better with someone else or, in a group setting. Instead of being presented with information, these learners prefer to figure out the answers and concepts via logic and reasoning. Logical learners prefer to use mathematical logic and reasoning to understand new concepts. These people would learn better when new information comes in the form of a song or, by simply having music on in the background. AuditoryĪuditory learners prefer to use sound or music to learn new things. For these learners, things like graphs and informational pictures are very helpful.
